Apocalypse: Kuijken and Trondheim Barokk

The CD Apocalypse marks a milestone in Trondheim Barokk’s collaboration with the legendary baroque violinist and ensemble leader Sigiswald Kuijken. Kuijken conducted Trondheim Barokk in one the ensemble’s very first productions and has visited the orchestra on several occasions. This recording of the two Bach cantatas, together with works by Buxtehude and Geist, bears the clear mark of Kuijken’s strongly audacious and innovating approaches to this repertoire, revealing a subtle clarity in Bach’s complex structures and a bright cheerfulness in the passionate scorings of the northern masters. The Travel to the North

With the discovery of the northernmost seas in the Renaissance period, sea travels from South-Europe to the far north areas developed. Several travellers brought instruments on the ships. From the rich heritage of Scandinavian music, there is a clear influence of the music from the south, notably from Italy, on music played in Scandinavia. The programme proposed by the budding Trondheim Barokk ensemble explores these exiting links between South and the North in early European culture. With stunning Norwegian soprano Ingeborg Dalheim.
